Week 12
Can't believe it's then end of Nana's trip to visit and take care of Abby. 5 weeks went by way too fast. This week it was hard for Nana because Miss Abby started school full time. Each morning Mommy and Daddy would get her ready and hand her off to Nana to bring to school. Mommy and Daddy were still car pooling so it was just easier for Nana to drop her off. Overall, she did really well at school. We had Nana pick her up so she still got some time with her. Her teachers says she is doing well with the transition. That makes Mommy happy. Mommy's been nervous she would be upset all day with people she didn't know, but come to find out, she's fine. Go figure.
So... she doesn't look all that happy for her first day of school, but she was. I promise.
Abby is getting much better at holding her head up on her own. Still no sitting up on her own, but we can hold her at the waist and she does good to keep herself upright.
Abby chatting it up with Nana showing how well she can hold her head up...
Telling stories...
Abby is starting to really get the hang of grasping her toys. Her two favorite toys to hold right now are two rattles.
One is Monkey....
The other is her pink rattle...
She does much better with her pink rattle because the handle is so small she can really get her fingers around it. Mommy has to help put the toys in her hand, but once they are there she can hold them for a few seconds on her own. She actually holds the pink rattle for quite a bit. Monkey normally goes flying above her head when she swings her arm, but don't worry...he's ok.
I would say without a doubt her favorite toy right now is her Leap Frog chair. As much as she loves her piano mat, she loves even more being upright in the chair. Mommy added some rings to the animals so that she could reach them. Ever since those were added she has a great time pulling on them and eating them. The chair is great to bring outside too. Good times and fresh air...winning combo if you ask me!
This weekend we had a little celebration for Daddy. It was his birthday so we invited some friends over for some food. Obviously Abby needed to dress up a bit for the occasion. After all, a plain old onesie was just too boring for Daddy's birthday! Daddy was changing Abby and they had to go through their usual routine. Abby gets her diaper hat. This is where Daddy puts the diaper so he doesn't forget to get it out before he starts taking off the dirty one and so she doesn't kick it of the changing table. Mommy thought it was silly at first, but Abby loves it. It will just be one of those things that she does with Daddy. Nana and Mommy were joking that in another year or two she is going to be running out to Daddy with a diaper on her head saying she needs to be changed. I'll take pictures of that when it happens... :)

Playing with Daddy....He's my favorite guy....
Abby is pretty strong for somebody who isn't even three months old yet (or at least Mommy thinks she is). She likes to push herself across her blanket when she is doing tummy time. Mommy started to pile up all her friends on one side of the blanket and she will push off of Mommy or Nana's hands to move herself all the way to them.
Ready...steady.....GO!
Almost there guys!!!
I made it!!!
So proud of myself!
Oh right....so back to the party. Mommy and Daddy's friends came over to hang out and grill. (Daddy loves to grill....what Daddy doesn't?) We were so happy all our friends could come over! It was especially nice to see Tyson and Sarah!! We haven't seen them since she was born so she was ready to show off how much she has grown.
Hanging out with Tyson and Sarah!
Nana and I both having fun....in our own ways.
See, he even has a cape! He must be a superhero!!
The next day was Daddy's actual birthday so I waiting to give him my sweet gift until that morning. I had to help him open it of course...
There it is!! I made it myself Daddy (well, ok, Mommy and Nana helped too.)
I think he likes it!
Daddy's birthday present and card.
Daddy and I played for a bit after he opened his present from me. I think he was pretty happy. I'm glad because I love him so much!!
Later that day Mommy, Daddy and Abby had to say goodbye to Nana. We were sad, but we know she was happy to go home and see her dogs, Papa John and Abby's Uncles. It'll be just a few short months until we see her again, but until then we can Skype!! It's a good thing Abby is really good at Skyping!
Mommy and Abby with Nana before she left.
Abby and her Nana....LOVE!!
We'll see you in November Nana!!! Thanks for everything! I love you!
